TOLEDO, Ohio, November 28, 2022 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an internationally ranked architecture and engineering firm, is proud to announce that Lauren Collier, Director of Project Technology at SSOE, has been named to Autodesk’s 40 Under 40: Champions of Construction 2022. This annual, global awards program recognizes professionals under the age of 40 who are making big waves in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry for their creativity, forward-thinking, and dedication, particularly over the last several months.
Scott Thompson, Vice President of Technology at SSOE, commented, “Over the years, Lauren has provided significant leadership to expand SSOE’s use of technology solutions as the firm works to gain efficiency and improvement in project delivery performance. SSOE is fortunate to have Lauren’s leadership because there are two things that she is not short of—enthusiasm and energy. Her ability and willingness to communicate and teach how technology can transform and propel people and projects is remarkable. The excitement she generates when speaking one-on-one, in a large audience setting, or in written word is palpable. She is very deserving of this recognition.”
An architect in training who transitioned to technology early in her career, Collier has 16 years of industry experience ranging from healthcare and industrial architectural design to BIM implementation, innovation projects, and the execution of corporate initiatives. She started her career at SSOE in 2007 as a BIM / CAD Technical Specialist and has quickly advanced to Director of Project Technology. She is responsible for leading a diverse group of VDC technology leaders, software DevOps, and model managers focusing on implementing new and innovative technologies, processes, and best practices in design and construction.
Over the course of her career as a forward-thinker with resolve, Collier has established herself as a thought leader within SSOE and throughout the industry. One recent example is her Master Class series with Autodesk, which launched in June 2022. She put considerable time and effort into creating the on-demand classes aimed at BIM / VDC professionals. Over 12 short videos, she shares her innovative ways to bring together technologies, teams, and processes while offering tips for future-proofing and accelerating a career in technology by getting in the mindset of learning new things and developing a professional strategy.
Although impactful for both Collier and SSOE, her thought leadership extends far beyond the Master Class. Over the past decade, she has been featured in and/or authored 24 articles, several appearing in well-known industry-leading publications such as Building Design + Construction, Engineering News-Record, ARCHITECT Magazine, Area Development, Lab Manager, and Plant Engineering. Additionally, she has participated in over 15 industry speaking engagements presenting several sessions at past Autodesk University conferences and some at smaller-scale events aimed at encouraging students to pursue STEM careers. Despite a heavy workload, Collier still finds time to regularly help with youth mentorship efforts at events such as Engineer for a Day. Her consistent presence and outstanding expertise not only position her as a thought leader, but also positively contributes to the construction industry as well.
