CHICAGO, Illinois, July 27, 2018 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), a global project delivery firm for architecture, engineering, and construction management, announced today that Mark LaBell, Jr., Senior Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Technical Leader, has been selected to present at the Advancing Construction Technology 2018: Improving Field Productivity conference, which will take place August 20-22 in Chicago.
The conference brings together over 100 technology and operations leaders who get the chance to get hands-on with new tools and see the practical ways that technology, such as drones, AR, and mobile devices, have been changing and streamlining data management in the field. Since new tools are introduced to the construction market every day, this year the focus of this event will be helping teams understand how these tools and technologies can work together across the construction phase to revolutionize all activities from office to field.
On August 20th at 2:20 p.m., LaBell will present on integrating scanned data into models as part of the case studies section of the conference. This presentation will create an in-depth understanding of how reality capture can enhance the delivery process on retrofit projects and during construction. It will also cover the differences in scanning for integration compared to other uses and how to use these processes in everyday workflows.
In addition, on August 21st at 3:00 p.m., LaBell will take part in a panel discussion on the future of construction technology and maximizing the potential for R&D and innovation. This panel will cover topics to help attendees analyze the potential for R&D within their corporation, review technological advancements of other industries, and then explore potential transferable lessons to drive innovation of construction field technology.
LaBell has a passion and unparalleled dedication for the practice of VDC methods in the AEC industry. He has served as a user and customization expert in 3D BIM / CAD software for over 15 years and provides support and training for users to educate them on how to maintain a sound and practical user environment. Always looking for the next best thing, whether process improvement, software, or hardware when it comes to practical design and user experience, LaBell has learned that there is never a “one-size fits all” approach no matter what the client requirements dictate. He has spearheaded and hosted SSOE’s annual hackathon, which is a business planning process that enables all non-principal-level staff to participate in business planning and new business opportunities. Over the past few years, LaBell has presented at numerous conferences, including Autodesk University, BIMForum, SPAR International, PSMJ AEC Thrive Summit, BIM Integration Congress, and Midwest University.
