TOLEDO, Ohio, March 6, 2020 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), a global project delivery firm for architecture, engineering, and construction management, is proud to announce that they were chosen to perform architecture and engineering services for Owens Community College’s Dana Center, a new advanced manufacturing training center. In addition, SSOE has made a $30,000 pledge for the naming of a conference room to help the College fulfill its funding obligations for this project. The Center, located in Perrysburg, Ohio, is currently in Phase II of construction and is set to be completed in the summer of 2020.
SSOE is proud to support Owens Community College as they continue to invest in the future workforce with this 59,000 SF training center. With a large pool of retiring employees and knowledge in advanced technology needed for existing and incoming workers, the Center is positioned to meet the needs of the Northwest Ohio region. In fact, currently 4 out of 5 Owens graduates are working in Ohio one year after graduation and with the addition of this Center, the College hopes to see that number increase. Relevant programming and training for students and community partners in advanced manufacturing and skilled trades will take place at the Center including: Applied Engineering, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, CNC and Manual Machining, Pneumatics, CAD, HVAC, and Plumbing.
SSOE’s Sonny Hamizadeh, AIA, Principal and Architectural Department Manager stated, “SSOE is proud to be working on this project and have the ability to pledge $30,000 to help make this project a reality. As an organization, we pride ourselves in supporting the communities in which our employees live and work. Building tomorrow’s skilled workforce is key to helping the Northwest Ohio region flourish and we’re excited to deliver facilities like this poised to attract talent and assist them in developing relevant skillsets.”
“We are delighted to continue our partnership with SSOE. Their design of the new Dana Center has allowed us to offer students a more conducive environment for learning current and advanced technologies,” said Steve Robinson, Ph.D., President, Owens Community College. “Their generous gift demonstrates not only the strength of our partnership but also their commitment to Owens’ mission of student success.”
Extensive global automotive and manufacturing experience combined with nationwide higher education expertise made SSOE the right choice for the project which included the renovation of an existing high bay building. The firm has completed thousands of industrial projects and has kept pace with this dynamic industry by working alongside experts in the field. The application of the knowledge they have gained will result in the delivery of a teaching and training facility that truly reflects today’s manufacturing environments. Simulation of real-world working environments will allow students to be prepared for success as they complete their courses and enter the workforce.
