TOLEDO, Ohio, May 3, 2024 — SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an internationally ranked architecture and engineering firm, is proud to announce its annual Engineering News-Record (ENR) rankings. ENR serves as one of the leading engineering and construction news publications and recently published this year’s Top 500 Design Firms Sourcebook providing market analysis and rankings of the largest U.S.-based firms according to revenue for design services performed in 2023.
SSOE was named #91 in the Top 500 Design Firms—an increase of 24 spots over last year’s ranking. The firm’s advancement into the top 100 is a result of its growing and diversified portfolio in manufacturing, industrial process, and architectural sectors.
Additionally, SSOE maintained its prominence as the #2 Manufacturing Design Firm, standing firm from last year’s ranking. SSOE’s presence in the top 10 of ENR’s Manufacturing Design Firms list spans over a decade. SSOE’s focus on the manufacturing sector combined with its focus on new and expanding industries, such as semiconductor and global battery / EV, has resulted in the continued expansion of its manufacturing portfolio. Currently, SSOE is engaged in over 40 battery / EV projects in North America and has designed nearly 27 million SF of battery plants.
Matthew Oberts, PE, LEED AP, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer – Building and Industrial Facilities, remarked, “Over the last year, we have continued to grow our battery and EV work, thanks in part to our combined expertise and project experience in the automotive, chemical process, and advanced technology markets, which brings a unique perspective to designing lithium-ion battery manufacturing facilities. However, our success isn’t based entirely on these projects. We’re also growing our solar, hydrogen, and pharmaceutical markets in addition to geographic sectors like Columbus, Ohio, which is fast becoming a hub for semiconductor manufacturing.”
Looking to the future success of SSOE and its clients, Jeremy Woodgate, PE, SE, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer – Advanced Technology and Process Engineering, added, “We’re well positioned to continue to help our clients flourish in these markets and related supply chains, while maintaining our market position and quality work across our book of business. Our 2023 acquisition of Integrated Engineering Services helped bolster our bench strength, enhanced our experience and offerings in several of our existing market sectors, and added commissioning and qualifications to our portfolio of services. Moving forward, we will continue to remain focused on our mission to deliver unparalleled client value that advances the AEC industry across all our markets.”
