Phoenix, Arizona,March 05, 2010 – Russ Kinner of SSOE Group, a global architecture, engineering, and construction management firm, was recently awarded a Special Chair Award for Section Support by the Phoenix Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Inc. (IEEE). The award was presented to Russ during the organization’s annual awards banquet held on February 13, 2010 in Phoenix, AZ. This award recognizes individuals or organizations for activities that support the goals of the Section, such as public service. The award also recognizes current section officers for their contributions for advancement of the section. In making the announcement, IEEE cited Russ’s outstanding support of the Phoenix section’s publicity efforts, which helped bolster the organization’s work in advancing technology, as well as contributions to the profession and the community.
Russ Kinner, PE, is a Senior Electrical Engineer at SSOE Group. He has been with the firm since 2007 and has a primary focus in the glass sector. In his position, he is responsible for guiding electrical / controls projects as well as performing this function within multi-discipline projects. His other duties include preparation of drawing packages, bills of material, programming of PLC and HMI, supervision of contractors, and performing equipment commissioning.
Russ received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toledo. He began his involvement with the IEEE in 2000 and currently serves as a board member for the Phoenix section as well as sector conference chair. Russ has also presented at the IEEE Canadian PLC Conference on a procedure that allows six PLC programmers to develop individual portions of a total application independently, and then be combined into a single processor. He was awarded an IEEE Third Millennium Award in 2000 and an IEEE-USA professional achievement award in 2001 for his outstanding contributions to his industry.
