COLUMBIA, South Carolina, February 10, 2025 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an internationally ranked architecture and engineering firm with six offices in the Southeast U.S. complemented by 13 additional offices, announced that Randall Holmes, AIA, Associate Architect, has been named Vice President of the American Institute of Architects Greater Columbia section (AIA Greater Columbia). Holmes will serve a one-year term as Vice President, which began on January 1, 2025.
Over a Decade of Dedication to AIA
Holmes has been a member of AIA Greater Columbia since 2013 and was named a board member in 2023. A registered architect in South Carolina since 2017, he has volunteered with the professional association’s Greater Columbia section over the years by engaging with local students interested in a career in architectural design. He served as a critic for AIA Greater Columbia’s second-year architecture studio reviews at Clemson University, also a client of SSOE’s that doubles as a pipeline for technical talent.
“It’s an honor to continue to serve on the AIA Greater Columbia Board of Directors,” shared Holmes. “As Vice President, I look forward to utilizing my past decade of experience with AIA to lead new initiatives supporting both the board and chapter’s goals while gaining valuable experience and perspective I can bring back to our architecturally led projects.”
Robby Aull, Principal and Senior Vice President at SSOE, commented, “Randall is dedicated to our profession, and he demonstrates his commitment both in the office and in the community. As Vice President of the greater Columbia section, I am confident that Randall’s vision and passion will push the organization forward to support Columbia’s architecture and design community.”
Industry Contributions Through Empathetic Design
Since joining SSOE, Holmes has contributed to numerous projects across the K-12, government, higher education, and healthcare sectors. His proficiency in design and design technology has made him an important contributor to individual projects and the overall office’s success.
Holmes graduated from Auburn University’s College of Architecture, Design, and Construction. During his studies, he participated in the Rural Studio and Urban Studio programs, both of which are innovative, off-campus design / build initiatives. Holmes has attributed these academic experiences for teaching him the importance of creating spaces where individual-focused and community-focused design intersect.
