NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana, October 6, 2022 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an internationally ranked architecture and engineering firm, announced today that several of their Lean project delivery experts will present at the 24th annual Lean Construction Institute (LCI) Congress on October 18 – 21, 2022 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
On Tuesday, October 18th at 8:00 AM (CDT), Julie Dolan, Lean Practice Leader and Client Success Manager at SSOE, along with Brian Winningham, Lean Construction Coach and Owner of Field Driven Lean, will facilitate a four-hour emersion session titled “Rev Up Your Team by Unleashing Their Potential (Liberating Structures).” Participants will learn about Liberating Structures as easy-to-use facilitation methods. These structures inject tiny shifts in the protocols of how we meet, plan, decide, and relate to each other that put the facilitative power once reserved for experts only into the hands of everyone. Attendees will experience and learn to use several Liberating Structures in a virtual environment using typical software platforms. During the interactive session, participants will also progress through a string of Liberating Structures to work through some of the biggest challenges facing the AEC industry today.
Dolan, an LCI-approved instructor / facilitator that has led several industry events with owners, trade, and construction partners, is a core team member of the LCI Ohio Valley and National Lean Champion Communities of Practice. She will also serve as one of five panelists leading the discussion on “Respect for People: A Primer and How-To for the Most Important Part of Lean,” which takes place Wednesday, October 19th at 2:30 PM (CDT).
On Wednesday, October 19th at 4:00 PM (CDT), SSOE’s Dana Brumley, PE, PMP, Senior Project Manager, and Mike Newman, PMP, Principal Division Manager of Advanced Technology, along with Bryan Wahl, Partner at Bostwick Design Partnership, will facilitate a session titled “Stirring the Pot – Driving the Adoption of Lean Principles in Design.” This presentation will discuss SSOE’s Lean journey to date and will outline the next phase of adoption at the firm, which includes design-oriented training on culture, tools, processes, procedures, and hands-on implementation of Lean in the workplace. Presenters will provide insights from their own personal journey and share what worked well, what would be done differently in hindsight, and next steps.
More than a general adoption strategy, a case study will be presented for specific training initiatives used to quickly bring a team into compliance with core Lean principles to execute a project with complex deliverables and a compressed schedule. Specific training activities and methods, their timing within the project, and lessons learned will be presented to assist others with moving beyond Lean adoption to genuine Lean execution within their organizations.
SSOE is a proud sponsor of this year’s LCI Congress, which brings together owners, members of the design community, general contractors, trade partners, and other Lean professionals to collaborate, network, learn, and share both success stories and challenges. An LCI member since 2015, SSOE leverages Lean tools and strategies with a goal of defining and delivering a collective vision of success on projects by eliminating waste, compressing schedules, lowering cost, and improving satisfaction.
Employees from various levels of the firm’s organization will be in attendance—including SSOE President Catherine Myers, PE, who serves on the LCI Board of Directors—to gain insight on how to bring additional value to their clients on projects through their full range of delivery solutions.
