COLUMBUS, Ohio, August 1, 2024 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an internationally ranked architecture and engineering firm, is proud to announce that Evan Baker, Columbus Business Leader, Data / Fire / Security Practice Group Lead, and Senior Associate, has been nominated to serve as part of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Ohio Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2024.
Since 2023, Baker has served as the ACEC Ohio Director. Prior to that, he served as the ACEC Northwest Ohio Chapter Chair and Treasurer / Secretary. As an ACEC Ohio board member, Baker is responsible for numerous actions including serving on a council committee, ensuring that SSOE meets annual ACEC Ohio and ACEC National Political Action Committee goals, attending quarterly meetings as well as the organization’s annual meeting and Engineering Excellence Awards banquet, promoting membership, and serving on special committees when request by the board president, among other things.
Beth Easterday, President of ACEC Ohio since 2016, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Evan Baker to the ACEC Ohio Board of Directors. He has been an integral part of the Northwest Ohio chapter for over four years, progressing through leadership roles to become Chair. As he joins the State Board for the next two years, I look forward to collaborating on industry issues with Evan. He brings a unique perspective and understanding of the industry with his role and experience at SSOE Group.”
With more than two decades of experience in the AEC industry, Baker has referred to his journey with SSOE as a remarkable 18-year adventure. His academic foundation—a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toledo—paved the way to his fulfilling career in Data / Fire / Security. Today, Baker spearheads SSOE’s Data / Fire / Security Practice Group, leading a team of experts spanning seven states and Mexico.
More recently, Baker has been bolstering SSOE’s business development efforts in Central Ohio and guiding the expansion of its Columbus office, where the firm is holding an invitation-only open house event today for local clients and partners. As the firm drives further growth in the area, Baker will continue to help SSOE contribute to Ohio’s emergence as the “Silicon Heartland,” a semiconductor nexus positively impacting all markets that SSOE serves—from pharma to higher education and beyond.
