PHOENIX, Arizona, April 17, 2024 –SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an internationally ranked architecture and engineering firm, announced today that two of its Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) experts will present at the Semiconductor Environmental Safety and Health Association (SESHA) 46th Annual Symposium. The event will take place April 22 – 25, 2024 at the Hilton Resort at the Peak in Phoenix.
At this year’s symposium, SSOE’s Jeff Tarter, Business Leader, and Mez Roohian, Designer, HazMat and EHS, will present “Is it an H? Understanding Maximum Allowable Quantities Across Building Occupancies: A Comprehensive Analysis” to attendees on April 23, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. (MST). As the demand for varied building functionality intensifies, it is important for safety professionals to understand the complexities related to Maximum Allowable Quantities (MAQs) across different building occupancies including B (Business), H (High Hazard), F (Factory), and others. This presentation aims to equip SESHA symposium attendees with a holistic understanding of MAQs, allowing them to facilitate informed decision-making in their designs.
Tarter has over 30 years of chemical and process engineering experience with innovative companies and processes across a broad range of industries. Jeff possesses a clear understanding of project needs and the challenges inherent in developing and implementing novel, cutting-edge processes. He has vast engineering design experience involving high-pressure systems, high-purity solvents, aggressive fluids, energetic chemistries, and toxic, flammable, and pyrophoric gases. Tarter also has an extensive background in regulatory compliance and safety. As a former regulator, he has extensive wastewater and air abatement experience and is a recognized expert on hazardous materials storage, handling, risk management mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
Roohian has over 15 years of experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and hazardous materials industries. Having started his career as a manufacturing organic chemist, he moved to EH&S, eventually starting his own company, before joining SSOE. Roohian’s knowledge and experience working in laboratories has helped minimize the impact of EH&S on day-to-day operations without compromising safety. His experience includes code analysis, conducting audits and inspections, developing regulatory guidelines, employee training, site closures, on-site services across EH&S, facilities, and various lab management projects.
