\BATTLE CREEK, Michigan, March 23, 2011 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an international engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) firm, announced today it has completed the design development for the ambulatory care expansion project taking place at the Battle Creek Veteran Affairs Medical Center. A team comprised of SSOE, VOA Associates Incorporated, and three other consultants was selected as the most highly qualified team for this 21,760 SF expansion and 9,600 SF renovation project.
The Battle Creek VAMC provides a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient services to more than 217,000 area veterans. The goal of the project is to relieve overcrowding in examination and treatment areas that are currently 54 percent undersized.
The project involves adding sixteen new exam rooms and two new procedure rooms as well as support areas including reception and waiting areas, restrooms, and physicians’ offices. Renovation will include the necessary modifications to access this new space and correct several other existing space deficiencies. .
SSOE is ranked among the top healthcare architects nationally (Modern Healthcare, 2011) and were chosen for this project because of their extensive experience and the use of technologies such as 3D and 4D BIM. “SSOE is honored to lead the design of this project which will ultimately enhance the healthcare treatment environment for some of our nation’s heroes,” said Mike Duffey, PE, Director of Federal Programs for SSOE Group.
Construction is anticipated to begin in August 2011 and completion slated for 2012.
