Louise Schlatter, RA, of SSOE will be presenting on the SSOE designed first Gold LEED certified central utility plant in the United States at this event sponsored by Green Energy Ohio (see press release below). Ms. Schlatter has developed many of SSOE’s green design standards and has been a leader in the movement to integrate these concepts into industrial facilities that traditionally do not seek out LEED certification.

Clean energy and green power options for business and commercial power users will be discussed during a day-long workshop, “Sustainable Energy for Today’s Business,” on Thursday, March 22 at the Pinnacle, 1772 Indian Wood Circle in Maumee. Registration is $35 before Monday, March 19, and includes lunch and a one-year membership in Green Energy Ohio. After Monday registration is $45.
Experts and current Ohio case studies on commercial wind, solar electric and thermal systems, and biomass will be featured, along with a review of regional sustainable energy efforts, green building and financing for renewable energy projects. Companies providing renewable energy consulting and system installation, sustainable design and energy efficiency will display products and services.
“From wind turbines powering farm equipment in western Ohio to solar panels generating power on the governor’s residence, green energy is up and running in Ohio,” says Bill Spratley, Green Energy Ohio Executive Director. “Clean energy is here and working now to help offset rising utility costs and to create potential jobs and new industry that could secure Ohio’s economic future.”
Featured speaker, Mark Shanahan, Energy Advisor to Governor Ted Strickland, will discuss sustainable energy and economic development opportunities for the state.
