TOLEDO, Ohio, May 6, 2016 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), a global engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) firm, announced today that an employee earned a Master Architect designation, two employees earned a professional registration, and eight employees earned professional certifications during the second quarter of SSOE’s 2016 planning year. Attainment of professional licensures and certifications is strongly encouraged at SSOE. In fact, the company covers the expense of preparation classes and exam fees as well as provides paid time off to take the exam. As an added incentive, once a staff member has passed an exam, they are awarded a recognition bonus.
Master Architect
Master Architect is a professional designation within SSOE that represents the highest level of achievement in the profession of architecture when not pursuing a management role. With a combination of architectural education and at least 15 years of experience, a Master Architect is a senior technical leader with a broad understanding of architectural principals, practices, and methods.
Deborah Suzan Huff, RA, LEED AP BD+C, recently earned her Master Architect professional designation. Suzan graduated from Cornell with a post-professional Master of Architecture following a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kentucky. She has over 20 years of experience, 8 of which she served as Architectural Department Manager for SSOE’s healthcare / commercial group prior to being promoted. Suzan works in SSOE’s Nashville, Tennessee office.
Licensure
To earn an Engineering Intern (EI) licensure, an individual must successfully complete the Fundamentals of Engineering exam. The exam signals the individual has mastered the fundamental requirements and is the first step toward earning a Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
Ralph Bednarz, EI, Mechanical, recently earned his EI licensure. Ralph graduated from the University of Toledo in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently working in SSOE’s Toledo, Ohio office.
Candis Polite, EI, Electrical, recently earned her EI licensure. Candis graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. Candis has over 5 years of industry experience and works in SSOE’s Birmingham, Alabama office. In addition to earning her EI licensure, Candis also earned her OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry certification.
Project Management Professional Certification
Project Management Professionals (PMP) certification, awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI), indicates that the individual possesses the knowledge and skill necessary to lead and direct project teams, and deliver project results within the constraints of schedule, budget, and resources.
Brandon Darroch, PMP, recently earned his PMP certification in addition to his OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry certification. Brandon graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology with a Master of Science in Engineering Management following a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has over 10 years of experience, which includes a background in field analysis, conceptual design, construction design and management, and contract administration. Brandon works in SSOE’s Nashville, Tennessee office.
Jonathan Knapp, PMP, recently earned his PMP certification. Jonathan graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He has over 15 years of experience managing design-build and construction projects for manufacturing, laboratory modification / expansion, biomedical, cleanroom, solar, office renovation, and industrial projects. Jonathan works out of SSOE’s Portland, Oregon office.
OSHA 10-Hour Construction Industry Certification
To receive an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-Hour Construction Industry certification, each recipient must complete the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Program, which is intended to provide an entry level construction worker with general awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards on a construction site.
Bradley Aaron, Electrical Designer, recently earned his OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry certification. Brad has over 15 years of experience and graduated from Wallace State Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Drafting and Design. He has exceptional knowledge of Revit MEP and AutoCAD MEP applications, which he uses for designing and producing construction documents. He works in SSOE’s Birmingham, Alabama office.
Louis Egwim, Electrical, recently earned his OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry certification. Louis graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering and from Virginia Union University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. With over 25 years of experience, his background includes project and process engineering, power transformation and distribution, and project management. Louis works in SSOE’s St. Paul, Minnesota office.
William Chauncey Ellis, Control System Designer / Integrator working in SSOE’s Birmingham, Alabama office, recently earned his OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry certification. Chauncey graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and has over 4 years of experience in the field of control systems.
Abdallah Hamad, Electrical with over 30 years of experience, recently earned his OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry certification. Abdallah graduated with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Wright State University following a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toledo. He currently works in SSOE’s Cincinnati, Ohio office.
Shawn McCauley, Electrical Designer working in SSOE’s Toledo, Ohio office, recently earned his OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry certification. Shawn will graduate in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Toledo.
Belal Obeid, Electrical, recently earned his OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry certification. Belal graduated from the University of Toledo in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He currently works in SSOE’s Toledo, Ohio office.
