TOLEDO, Ohio, May 15, 2023– SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an internationally ranked architecture and engineering firm, is proud to announce its newest Engineering News-Record (ENR) rankings, which includes the firm’s move to the #2 spot among manufacturing design firms. This reflects an increase of three spots over last year’s numbers and further solidifies SSOE as the go-to firm for industrial facility design.
A leading engineering and construction news publication, ENR releases its Top 500 list annually. The list provides market analysis and rankings of the largest U.S.-based AEC firms according to revenue for design services performed in 2022.
SSOE’s Vince DiPofi, PE, Chief Executive Officer, commented, “To be named #2 in manufacturing design is extremely exciting and something our team has worked hard and consistently to achieve. In addition to that, we were named a Top 50 International Designer for the first time in SSOE’s history and listed among the Top 100 Pure Designers—a category we hadn’t ranked in for several years. It’s rewarding to see the success of our strategic plan come to life and in the process, receive industry recognition. We’re grateful to our clients for their partnership.”
SSOE’s presence at the top of ENR’s Manufacturing Design Firms list spans two decades. The recent bump to #2 is likely a combination of the firm’s expertise in semiconductor design, a market with accelerated growth as a result of the CHIPS Act, and global battery / electric vehicle (EV) boom. SSOE is a key player in each of those markets, which has elevated its rise on ENR’s Top 500 list.
In addition to the firm’s advancement in rankings, the SSOE-designed Tennessee
Electric Vehicle Center—part of Ford’s $5.6 billion BlueOval City in Stanton, Tennessee—graced the cover of ENR’s Top 500 list. Ford, one of SSOE’s oldest clients, and its construction partner Walbridge selected SSOE to provide full architecture and engineering services on the design / build team. The project is one of 25 battery / EV projects across North America that SSOE is currently engaged in.
SSOE’s Matt Oberts, PE, LEED AP, Chair of the Board and Executive Vice President of Facilities Operations, commented, “To have earned the coveted #2 seat among the nation’s best manufacturing design firms is a testament to our people. Our ability to maintain a top five spot year after year and continue to improve with an increase of three spots since last year is evidence of the diligence and discipline our teams display on each and every project.”
