TOLEDO, Ohio, December 19, 2024 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), an internationally ranked architecture and engineering firm headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, was honored to have leadership in attendance at the open house for ProMedica’s Behavioral Health Outpatient Pavilion project, alongside its design / build partner, Michigan-based Roncelli. The event took place on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

A New Era in Pediatric Mental Health
ProMedica’s Behavioral Health Pavilion is a new 14,500 SF standalone state-of-the-art facility with comprehensive mental and behavioral health programs. Designed to serve the most complex and vulnerable pediatric patients, it complements the recently completed Psychiatry Unit Renovation at the ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children’s Hospital, also designed by the SSOE team. SSOE provided architectural, engineering—including structural and civil—and interior design services on this facility, which supports an interdisciplinary team of experts in delivering developmental and behavioral health services as well as an intensive outpatient program for the Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan communities.
The pavilion serves as a gateway to ProMedica’s Toledo Hospital Main and North Campuses, strategically located at an urban intersection on the North Campus. Externally, it meets local zoning requirements with a well-developed street front presence, while internally, it offers a serene and private experience complemented by a protected courtyard. Inside, the building features outpatient areas including group therapy spaces, consultation rooms, observation rooms, and support spaces designed to enhance staff well-being and better serve patients.
Siebenaller stated, “ProMedica has been a cherished client of and community partner to SSOE for nearly four decades, and we’re honored to have designed this facility for them—especially as they celebrate Toledo Hospital’s 150th year. Now standing as a landmark that warmly welcomes visitors and staff to the hospital’s Main and North Campus, the pavilion project exemplifies our shared commitment to honoring the past and building the future, enhancing the community’s access to essential behavioral health services. It also demonstrates how seamlessly we can collaborate to deliver innovative and impactful design solutions when our organizational purposes align like SSOE’s and ProMedica’s.”
