Toledo, Ohio, October 31, 2012 – SSOE Group (www.ssoe.com), a global engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) firm, is proud to announce that two of its BIM/CAD experts played a significant role in the development of newly released U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project deliverable standards for BIM applications. Lauren Collier, Associate AIA and John Eddy, PE were appointed to the USACE BIM Advisory committee in January 2012.
The new standards incorporate improvements to contract language, industry developments, and lessons learned from previous projects in a user-friendly matrix format. These standards were created with the goal of resolving inconsistencies in the previous version of USACE BIM Contract Language that left open the potential for inaccurate and inconsistent project deliverables due to subjective interpretations of the requirements listed.
The USACE BIM Advisory committee was founded in 2008 with the addition of two SSOE representatives in January 2012. The committee is made up of individuals from BIM-aggressive firms who have experience working with the USACE and meets monthly to develop practical, fair, innovative, and reasonable solutions for BIM users.
As a result of Collier’s expertise and position on the committee, she has been selected to co-present with the USACE at the 2012 Autodesk University conference (http://au.autodesk.com/?nd=au_las_vegas_2012) taking place November 27-29, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The presentation titled, “A Dissection of the USACE BIM Requirements and PxP” will include an in-depth exploration of BIM and deliverable requirements for BIM-based projects.
